FBI Praises Morocco’s Cooperation in Arresting a Suspect Linked to ISIS

The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) has commended Morocco’s cooperation in the arrest of an individual accused of planning to join the terrorist organization Islamic State (ISIS). The arrest took place during a flight from North Carolina to Rabat.

This announcement was made during a press conference held yesterday, Thursday, by the FBI under the U.S. Department of Justice, to provide updates on the case.

The FBI confirmed that “international cooperation” in this case received significant support from Moroccan authorities, reflecting the high level of collaboration between the two countries in addressing security challenges and terrorist threats.

The bureau expressed its “deep gratitude for Morocco’s support” and praised the bilateral relations in the field of security cooperation.

According to U.S. media, the individual, nicknamed “Suleiman the American,” had planned for months, via social media, to join ISIS through a flight from Raleigh-Durham International Airport to Rabat-Salé Airport in Morocco.

Federal prosecutors revealed that Justin White had arranged his travel with the help of an accomplice, purchasing a round-trip ticket to avoid arousing suspicion.

He is charged with “providing and conspiring to provide material support to a designated foreign terrorist organization.” He was apprehended by U.S. authorities while attempting to board the plane. Investigations are ongoing as part of the enhanced cooperation between U.S. and Moroccan authorities.
